Laura is a native of Brandon, Mississippi and was a 2007 honors graduate of Northwest Rankin High School. She attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College. From there, she transferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and completed her Bachelor’s of Science degree in nursing. While in nursing school, she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International and Phi Kappa Phi National Honors Society, was named Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and served as a student ambassador for the School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in the Adult Emergency Department at UMC for five years and served on the policy and procedures council, while also working in the Emergency Department at Merit Health River Oaks. In 2016, she graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with at Master’s of Science in nursing, and is a board certified family nurse practitioner. After graduation, she worked as a clinical nursing instructor for Mississippi College, and currently works as a family nurse practitioner for Baptist Leake Primary Care. She and her husband, Kyle, have two children and reside in Brandon.
