Dr. Stanford is a graduate of the DNP program at Samford University. She received her master’s degree from Mississippi University for Women and her undergraduate degree from the University of North Alabama. While at Samford, she was awarded the Lucille Stewart Beeson Nursing Award and later was a recipient of the Samford Living Legacy award. She  is a board member of the Mississippi Board of Nursing  Other awards and honors include MNA Nurse Practitioner of the Year, MNA Waldren-Beto Occupational Health Nurse of the Year, and Who’s Who Among Students of Colleges and Universities. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, and Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society.

She is a nurse practitioner at Family Medicine Clinic in Amory and works part time as a hospitalist and was one of the first recognized nurse practitioner hospitalists in the state of Mississippi. She is also guest lecturer and has served as assistant professor with the family nurse practitioner graduate program at Mississippi University for Women.

She is active in the Mississippi Nurses Association and serves as chair of the MNA convention planning committee. In addition, she is active with the Mississippi Nurses Association Advanced Practice Council. She is also on the abstract review committee for the Doctors of Nursing Practice and has presented lectures on national, state, and local levels.

She and her husband, Ed have two children and one grandchild.
