A Message from NCLEX
Wed, 07/09/2025 - 00:00

Candidates who need to retake an NCLEX exam can start their reregistration process after receiving their results. They will need to notify their nursing regulatory body (NRB) that they plan on retaking the examination, fulfill any necessary requirements and reregister with Pearson VUE. Per NCSBN policy, candidates are permitted to take the NCLEX eight times per year and there must be 45 test-free days between each examination.

Some jurisdictions have stricter limits on the number of NCLEX exams a candidate can take annually. Candidates are encouraged to contact the NRB of the jurisdiction in which they are seeking licensure for their specific NCLEX retake policy.
